As a fun post to end my draft coverage, I did two different Rangers mock drafts. The first mock draft is what I believe the New York Rangers will actually do this weekend, which is based on their organizational needs and the players they interviewed at the Draft Combine. This is not necessarily what I want, but it’s what I think the Rangers will do.
The second Rangers mock draft is made up of my personal opinion on who the New York Rangers should draft, in line with their organizational needs.
Rangers Mock Draft #1: What the Rangers will do
- Rd 2, 43rd pick : Cole McKinney, C, USNTDP, 6’0”, 201 lbs
- Rd 3, 70th pick : Peyton Kettles, RD, Swift Current Broncos, 6’5”, 194 lbs
- Rd 3, 89th pick : Jan Chovan, C/RW, Tappara U20, 6’2”, 190 lbs
- Rd 4, 111th pick : Shamar Moses, RW, North Bay Battalion , 6’1”, 203 lbs
- Rd 5, 139th pick : Kale Dach, C, Sherwood Park Crusaders, 5’11”, 172 lbs

- Rd 7: 203rd pick : Alexis Cournoyer, G, Cape Breton Eagles, 6’4”, 205 lbs
Rangers Mock Draft #2: What I would do
- Rd 2, 43rd pick : Ryker Lee, RW, Madison Capitols, 6’0”, 181 lbs
- Rd 3, 70th pick : Gustav Hillström, C, Brynäs, 6’2”, 176 lbs
- Rd 3, 89th pick : Quinn Beauchesne, RD, Guelph Storm, 6’0”, 187 lbs
- Rd 4, 111th pick : Lasse Boelius, LD, Ässät, 6’1”, 190 lbs
- Rd 5, 139th pick : Francesco Dell’Elce, LD, UMass Amherst, 6’1”, 185 lbs
- Rd 6, 166th pick : Charlie Cerrato, C, Penn State University, 6’0”, 190 lbs
- Rd 6, 171st pick : Benjamin Rautiainen, LW, Tappara, 6’0”, 174 lbs
- Rd 7: 203rd pick : Mikkel Eriksen, C, Färjestad BK J20, 5’11”, 185 lbs
Both Rangers mock drafts are very different, but are meant to illustrate how many options there are for the Rangers throughout the draft, and how hard it is to actually predict what they will end up doing. For all we know, they trade back into the first round. They will likely leverage some of their later picks to move up in the middle rounds as well. Even without a major trade thus far, it will be a fun weekend.
