Hershey Bears Tame Hartford Wolf Pack 4-2, Pierrick Dube Scores 20th Goal of the Season

The Hershey Bears defeated the Hartford Wolfpack by a score of 4-2 on Friday in their final game of a three-game road trip. The victory moves the Bears’ record to 30-7-0-1. Hunter Shepard made 23 stops in the victory.

1ST PERIOD

The Wolf Pack would get on the board early in the opening frame, with Jake Leschyshyn tallying his fourth of the season assists from Brett Berard and Mac Hollowell at the 4:34 mark.

The Bears would knot the score at 1-1 on a power play goal from Pierrick Dube, who notched his 20th goal of the 2023-24 season with Hartford’s Artem Anisimov in the penalty box for tripping; Mike Sgarbossa and Joe Snively recorded the assists on the goal.

At the end of one, the two clubs were tied at one goal apiece, with Hershey receiving the only power play and leading Hartford 10-5 in Shots on Goal (SOG). Matthew Strome sustained an upper-body injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

2ND PERIOD

Just three minutes into the second, tempers began to flare as Dmitry Osipov (Hershey) and Matt Rempe (Hartford) were each called for fighting and slashing and instigator minors, respectively; Rempe received an additional 10-minute misconduct for his instigation. Bears blueliner Hardy Haman Aktell was called for slashing just a minute later although the Chocolate and White managed to kill off the subsequent man-advantage.

Hershey would break the deadlock late in the frame on a power play goal from Mike Vecchione, who scored his tenth goal of the season on the power play on assists from Joe Snively and Mike Sgarbossa at 16:10.

The period ended with the Bears on top of Hartford in both the scoring and shots department (19-16) and having scored on two of their three power play opportunities in the game thus far.

3RD PERIOD

Hershey defenseman Aaron Ness would add to the Bears’ lead with just under 11 minutes gone by in the final frame, scoring his second goal of the season on assists from Dylan McIlrath and Bogdan Trineyev.

Ethen Frank added an empty-net goal at the 17:11 mark to extend Hartford’s deficit to 4-1. The victory marked Hershey’s 30th victory of the season, the fastest such number in franchise history.

The Wolf Pack added a last second goal from Nikolas Brouillard on a power play, assisted by Brennan Othmann and Mac Hollowell.
