Hershey Bears Beat Toronto Marlies 4-3 in Overtime; Joe Snively Scores Game-Winner


The Hershey Bears roared to a 4-3 win in overtime over the Toronto Marlies at Giant Center Sunday evening. The victory moves the Bears’ record to 34-7-0-2 (70 points) on the season. Forward Jimmy Huntington recorded two goals, including the game-tying tally with 20 seconds to go in regulation.

1ST PERIOD

The first period saw little scoring until the final minute of play, with the Bears’ Chase Priskie scoring his fourth goal of the season at the 19:28 mark on assists from Henrik Rybinksi and Riley Sutter.

Just 16 seconds later. Toronto’s Logan Shaw beat Hunter Shepard to even the score at one goal apiece; Roni Hirvonnen and Nick Abruzzese were credited with the assists on the play.

2ND PERIOD

Unlike the opening frame, the scoring started early in the second period, with Jimmy Huntington giving the Chocolate and White their second lead of the night, assisted by Chase Priskie and Jake Massie.

The goal from Huntington would prove to be the only scoring by either club in the middle period, with Hershey entering the second intermission up 2-1 and leading Toronto in shots 23-18.

3RD PERIOD

With the Bears’ Bogdan Trineyev in the box for tripping, Joseph Blandisi took full advantage of the resulting power play, scoring his 11th goal of the season just past the halfway mark of the third; goal was assisted by Nick Abruzzesse and Max Lajoie.

The deadlock would last less than a minute, as Kieffer Bellows potted his 18th goal on the year at 11:21 to give the Marlies a 3-2 lead. Blandisi and Ryan Tverberg picked up the assists on the play.

With twenty seconds left in regulation, Jimmy Huntington scored his second of the night to send the game to overtime; Ivan Miroshnichenko and Mike Vecchione picked up the assists on the goal.

OVERTIME

Joe Snively scored the sudden-death winner with less than two seconds left in the overtime period. The goal, his ninth, was assisted by Chase Priskie.
