Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Demo Upate Will Improve Visual Quality of Performance Mode

The demo of Square Enix’s upcoming JRPG Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be updated soon with new content, but apparently, the graphics will be improved as well.

The demo was released a few days ago, with the promise that an update on February 21 would add the open-world Junon region for fans to enjoy before the game fully launches.

Today we learn from the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account that the update will also improve the visual quality of the Performance mode that you can select within the graphics options.

The extent of the improvements has not been detailed, but we learn that the same boost will be applied to the full game when it releases exclusively for PS5 on February 29, 2024. Incidentally, if you want to pre-order a physical copy, you can already do so on Amazon.

The demo is currently available on PS5, and it includes the Nibelheim flashback chapter, in which the player can enjoy playing as both Cloud and Sephiroth.

If you’d like to learn more about the massively-anticipated second chapter of the remake trilogy, you can enjoy our recent hands-on preview and our interview with game director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase, on top of an older interview

The game’s release is crucial for Square Enix, as it’ll make or break the company’s chance to match its full-year financial targets following a few quarters that haven’t been exactly stellar in terms of earnings. Square Enix’s hopes certainly don’t seem misplaced, as Rebirth was voted most anticipated game for this year at both The Game Awards and the Golden Joystick Awards.

If you’d like to see recent footage, you can take a look at a story trailer and another trailer on top of plenty of spiffy gameplay shared at a recent PlayStation State of Play broadcast.
