London-based Payload Studios announced the early access release date of its open-world survival game TerraTech Worlds.
The game will be available to play on PC via Steam on March 22, 2024.
Below you can check out the roadmap for the early access, which is planned to last for about 18 months. That being said, the developers intend to engage in a multi-year content roadmap even after 1.0 is released.
At the moment, the plan is to support only Windows, with MacOS and Linux to be considered at a later date. The developers would also like to release TerraTech Worlds on consoles, but they have nothing to announce on the topic for now.
While the game includes a strong multiplayer component, it can be played fully offline in single-player.
If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it was quite popular during the Steam Next Fest, in which its demo ranked 16th overall among all the demos available during Valve’s massive event. That’s certainly very flattering and shows the game’s potential.
Players play the role of freelance prospectors on an uncharted alien planet. The map includes 300km² of explorable surface. For the sake of comparison, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim‘s map is about 37km².
The world includes everything you may expect including “a day/night cycle, dynamic weather, dangerous plant life, hostile enemy factions and bases, and more.”
6-player online co-op is supported, so you can enjoy exploring TerraTech Worlds‘ map with friends.
One of the most relevant aspects of this game is the building system, that lets you fully customize your base and vehicles with modular blocks. You can also customize the landscape itself by terraforming it.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see if this interesting game will be able to go toe-to-toe with some of the more successful survival crafting games, and we’ll know on March 22.
