John Carlson Ties Kevin Hatcher For Most Goals By A Defenseman in Franchise History in His 1,000th Game

As if playing in his 1,000th career game in the NHL/as a member of the Washington Capitals wasn’t enough, defenseman John Carlson accomplished another milestone Saturday night with a goal in the second period against the Boston Bruins.

Carlson, who entered the night with 148 career goals, added his 149th and eighth of the 2023-24 season on the power play at the 14:03 mark of the second period, assisted by Max Pacioretty and Dylan Strome.

Carlson, who already holds the franchise record for blueliners in Games Played, Assists, and Points, notched his 149th career tally to tie longtime defenseman Kevin Hatcher for the most goals by a defenseman with a period to play.

Carlson now has 149 G, 519 A, and 668 Points in 1,000 career Games Played, all as a member of the Capitals.
