Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson notched his 150th career goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday evening, becoming the franchise’s all-time leader in Goals Scored by a defenseman.
The goal came at a crucial point in the the club’s game against the Bolts, notching a power play goal at 8:29 to give the Caps a 3-2 lead; assists were credited to Dylan Strome and Tom Wilson.

The goal pushed Carlson past Kevin Hatcher to become the Caps’ all-time leader in Goals by a rearguard; Carlson also holds the top spot in Assists and Points, as well as Games Played, Power Play Points, and Game-winning Goals by a defenseman and recently played in his 1,000th NHL game, all with Washington.
