Miami standout Kyshawn George is a projected first-round pick who’s one of the best shooters in this draft class and will bring versatility to whichever team selects him.
George sat down with HoopsHype at the NBA Draft Combine and discussed how he’s adjusted to life in the USA, the differences in playing style, the toughest part of his journey, a scouting report on his game, and player comparisons.

Kyshawn George: This is actually my first year in America. It was a blessing because where I went in Miami, everyone made it easy for me. They brought me in and were friendly and told me what I had to do and focus on.

KG: I would say the speed and style of play. The players here are more individualistic, and less reliant on set systems to get shots. The speed of the game is also noticeably different.

KG: I love what I do. I know people say you have to sacrifice. I just think it’s what I like to do. I like to work out at the gym and work on my game to improve. I’d say the hardest part is being away from home. I’ve been alone a lot leaving Switzerland to go to France and then here. I haven’t seen my family a lot. I guess that’s part of the sacrifice.

KG: He taught me everything I know. I’m grateful for all he’s done, especially in teaching me shooting and ball-handling skills.

KG: I think I’m a very dangerous shooter from the outside who can shoot from deep and make a shot from everywhere on the court. I’m long and a versatile player. I’m a good defender who can bother shots with my length, and I have quick hands. I think I’m a smart player too.

KG: I believe my creativity and ball-handling ability are often overlooked. People see me as just a 3-and-D player, but I bring much more to the table.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports
KG: It’s tough for me because a part of me that always played point guard for 16 years, and now I’m developing to be a wing or shooting guard. I would want to say Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but I don’t play directly like him. I would want to say Klay Thompson right now because I’m a shooting guard and behind the 3-point line a lot, but I think I have more ball-handling creativity than him, so I can’t really tell you. I think I’m a mix of a bunch of players.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
KG: I try to learn from various players. I study ball handling like Luka Doncic, shooting like Klay Thompson, and pace like Doncic. I pick up different elements from different players to improve my game.
