Amy Hockert: . @JonKrawczynski telling @DanBarreiroKFAN what Mike Conley said to him after gm3 is the only thing you need to hear today. “Jon, you’re gonna have a hell of a story to write. We’re gonna make history.”

Anthony Edwards started the series guarding Kyrie Irving in Games 1 and 2, so I asked Chris Finch why they moved Conley onto Kyrie for Game 3.
“We moved Ant off because we were going to start off with two on the ball off the pick and roll, so we wanted as much size as the low pic.twitter.com/D42FC4eN4K – 12:54 PM

Anthony Edwards was still in denial afterward, telling Mike Conley “I still don’t feel like they can beat us, bro. We haven’t all been clicking at one time.”

Whatever Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley were doing on this weak side switch, they need to burn it…
Another example of Timberwolves having everyone where they want them, but porous off ball defense sends them needlessly scrambling
They never recovered pic.twitter.com/SoVBnO2UT1 – 11:26 PM

Disappointed. Luka & Kyrie were better when it mattered most. Anthony Edwards isn’t great enough yet to elevate a team where Mike Conley & Kyle Anderson have his back most effectively, and his No. 2 no-shows. Everyone has games like KAT had, but it sucks when it’s on this stage. – 10:43 PM

Defense on that PJ Washington 3 was gruesome. You’re trying to get Conley out of being the low-man help but bad comms ended with no one doing it. – 10:26 PM

Conley, McDaniels and Gobert are guarding Dallas’ three primary offensive weapons — Kyrie, Luka and Gafford/Lively — and they all are now on the bench with four fouls here in the 3rd quarter. – 9:59 PM

I think that’s a matchup that Kyrie would take every time. He drives right past Conley and stops on a dime while absorbing contact for the and-1. Off the glass, too. – 9:36 PM

More on this storyline
Despite the grim statistical reality, Edwards offered a smile and, in search of answers, engaged in an honest discussion with his teammates after the game. Conley said Edwards and several other teammates offered constructive criticism and encouragement to each other. Edwards also tried to lift the spirits of dejected guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who scored three points in 20 minutes. And after the postgame press conference, Edwards tried to fire up Towns by telling him the media was asking about his shooting struggles. “He’s a guy that not only is trying to get guys going, keeping guys positive, but he’ll be on himself, be the first one to say he didn’t have it or didn’t bring it or didn’t should have this better, that better,” Conley said of Edwards. “So, he’s holding himself accountable. It’s something all of us can look up to and look at ourselves in the mirror and hold ourselves accountable. To have him do that at 22 years old is impressive. We wouldn’t be in this position right now without that kind of guy.” -via Andscape / May 27, 2024
He told Mike Conley that he wouldn’t let these setbacks get him down, showing a determination to lead through positivity no matter how daunting the hoops task might be. “Time to make history, fellas,” Anthony Edwards shouted. “I still don’t feel like they can beat us, bro. We haven’t all been clicking at one time. One game. One game.” Moments later, he issued a challenge that no team in NBA history has been able to meet. “Well, we’re here now, fellas,” he said. “What are we gonna do?” -via New York Times / May 27, 2024
Dane Moore: Mike Conley and Anthony Edwards talked about wanting consistency with the whistle in their postgame press conference. Conley: “Honestly, a lot of my fouls were fouls, I thought. But it’s about consistency on both ends. That’s all we ask for at the end of the day.” Edwards: -via Twitter @DaneMooreNBA / May 27, 2024
