Ending the season earlier than expected after being eliminated in the NBA Playoffs, Nikola Jokic will come back soon to prepare for the Olympic Games in Paris with the Serbian national team. The Denver Nuggets‘ superstar was indeed included into Svetislav Pesic’s 16-man preliminary list ahead of the biggest appointment of the summer, where Serbia got qualified after earning the silver medal in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, losing to Germany in the final. Bogdan Bogdanovic, Vasilije Micic, Nikola Jovic, Aleksej Pokusevski, Nikola Milutinov, and other superstars are included into the Serbian national team’s Olympic extended roster. Four players will be cut before the start of the competition.

Most wins (regular season and playoffs combined) since the start of the 2020-21 season:
1. Jayson Tatum: 232
2. Jrue Holiday: 229
3. Nikola Jokic: 224
Holiday was such a huge, shrewd pickup for Boston – 9:54 AM

More on this storyline
Entering the Finals, Horford boasted the third-highest plus-minus of any player this postseason at +132, trailing only Tatum (+141) and Holiday (+133), according to ESPN Stats & Information. And since Horford returned to Boston in 2021-22, he has recorded 1,022 total shot contests in the playoffs, more than 200 more than the next-closest player in that span (Denver’s Nikola Jokic, at 786 shots contested). -via ESPN / June 10, 2024
“Nikola Jokic’s participation alone certainly means something in every sense,” Pesic said to Politike podcast after being asked whether Jokic will join Serbia for the upcoming Olympic Games. “From both the aspect of his individual quality and from the aspect of personality that Jokic is. Because when I say that Jokic is a better guy than he is a player, they all faint. Like, ‘you’re courting Jokic.’ Of course I’m courting him, because I want to point that out.” -via EuroHoops.net / June 9, 2024
As of now, Jokic still appears undecided on whether he’ll play in the Olympics or not, at least when it comes to the comments he has made on the matter in public. After finishing the season with the Denver Nuggets, he mentioned that he still has to “think about it.” A couple of days later, Pesic called “fake news” a report that Jokic will definitely join the Serbian national team in the Olympics, adding that people will learn what will happen “when the time comes.” -via EuroHoops.net / June 9, 2024
