Nikola Jokic dominates as Serbia comes back to beat Australia, qualify for Olympic semifinals

For 13 minutes Australia was dominating, building a 24-point lead. Ultimately it was not enough against Serbia. Last season’s FIBA World Cup silver medalists reacted admirably and ended up winning 95-90 against the bronze medalist in Tokyo 2020, claiming a spot in the Olympics semifinals. Nikola Jokic had the usual dominant all-around performance for his country, as the Joker finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists. He also had the two most clutch shots of the tournament for Serbia thus far for the final victory.

Charles Barkley: “Have the International Teams gotten better? 100%. They are still not better than the United States. You take away Joker and Giannis and Luka. All three guys are great, great players. Shai is great also. But we still got the next 10 best players in every game. Ain’t nobody bringing nobody off the bench better than Jayson Tatum. Ain’t nobody bringing anybody off the bench better than Kevin Durant. The international teams have gotten better, but there’s never an excuse for the United States not to win the gold medal. We got the best team. We got the best players by far. (…) Listen, if they lose, we can’t let them back in the country. We can’t. I told them they can’t come back.” -via YouTube / August 5, 2024
