Firaxis and 2K have announced the Civilization 7 PC specs ahead of the game’s launch in February, giving you plenty of time to potentially upgrade your machine if it isn’t up to scratch.
Civilization 7 launches on February 11th across PC and consoles, but it’s the PC release in which Firaxis and 2K are interested in today.
Three different spec presets have been outlined by the two studios: Minimum, Recommended, and Ultra. As you’ve probably guessed, you’ll need flashier and flashier components the higher up the preset list you climb.
Here are the three different PC spec requirements for Civilization 7. Bear in mind that for all three of these, you’re going to need an SSD with at least 20GB of free space; an HDD won’t cut it. You’ll also need to have upgraded to DirectX 12.
Minimum (1080p, 30fps, Low settings)
- CPU: Intel Core i3-10100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 460 or Intel Arc A380
- 8GB RAM
Recommended (1080p, 60fps, Medium settings)
- CPU: Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 or Intel Arc A750
- 16GB RAM
Ultra (4K, 60fps, High settings)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-14700F or AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
- 32GB RAM
Naturally, you’re also going to need Windows 10 or 11 installed on 64-bit architecture for these presets. 2K and Firaxis say Civilization 7 will also be released for Linux and SteamOS, but no specs for those platforms are available yet.
Civilization 7 is, as you might expect, the seventh main installment in the Civilization series. It’ll feature a diverse roster of leaders, overhauled strategic gameplay, and, perhaps most importantly, no 2K Launcher on PC.
