Fallout Is Amazon Prime Video’s Second 100m-Viewer Show

Amazon has announced that its Fallout TV show has become the Prime Video platform’s second show to reach 100 million viewers, and you’ll never guess what the first show to achieve this accolade was.

Over on X (formerly Twitter), Amazon announced the 100 million milestone with the rather pithy summary “achievement unlocked”. The accompanying artwork proclaims that Fallout has “100 million viewers worldwide”.

The first show to achieve this milestone, according to Amazon itself, was the first season of The Lord of the Rings show The Rings of Power, which should go some way towards telling you just how successful the Fallout show has been.

The Fallout TV show has racked up some impressive numbers.

Of course, Amazon doesn’t go into detail regarding the 100 million figure, so while it sounds impressive on the face of it, there’s no guarantee all 100 million of those people stuck around to watch every episode.

It’s also possible that a significant portion of the viewership Amazon cites only watched for a few minutes; without any more in-depth information, it’s impossible to know how engaged the 100 million people who watched Fallout really were.

Still, reviews of the show’s first season were extremely positive from both the critical and audience perspectives, and our own reviewer Tyler was a big fan of the show as well, so I’d be willing to bet that a good chunk of those 100 million people stayed until the series’ finale.

If you’re not familiar with the Fallout TV show, it’s an adaptation of the long-running RPG series Fallout, and it’s set around 130 years after the first game in the series.

The show follows Vault Dweller Lucy, who leaves the safety of Vault 33 to explore the wasteland in order to search for her father. It stars Arcane and Yellowjackets alumnus Ella Purnell in the main role, with support coming from the likes of Kyle MacLachlan and Walton Goggins.

You can check out the first series of Fallout right now on Prime Video. If you’re an Amazon Prime member already, the service is included in your membership, although you will have to fork out some extra cash to get rid of adverts.
