Supergiant Games has released the first major Hades 2 update since the game’s launch in Early Access earlier this year, and it’s not a small update either.
The Olympic Update is pretty aptly-named; it brings a new region with a brand new Guardian to vanquish, as well as Xinth, the Black Coat, a brand new weapon with unique Aspects for you to discover.
You can now decorate the Crossroads with “dozens of unlockable decorations” and spruce it up with music tracks, too, bringing “a personal touch to your home between the realms”, as Supergiant says.
Other new additions include new allied gods to gain blessings and Keepsakes from, as well as new Animal Familiars, new challenges, and “close to 2,500 new voice lines” bringing some new story as well.
If you’re running a Mac, you’ll also be pleased to learn that this update brings native Mac M1 support, although you’re out of luck if your Mac has a chip that’s older than the M1, sadly.
In terms of what lies in Hades 2‘s future, Supergiant says it wants to work on “what awaits further beyond the newly-added Region” for the next major update, alongside new Boons and new enemies.
The studio is estimating that this update will be launched sometime early next year, and it should take “a little less development time overall” than the Olympic Update did.
The full Hades 2 Olympic Update patch notes are available to read here if you want to know everything that’s new.
Alternatively, in true Supergiant style, you can enjoy the patch notes in the form of a dramatic reading given by narrator Logan Cunningham, because of course you can.
Hades 2 is available right now on PC via Steam Early Access. If you want to know what we thought of the game, you can check out our very own Tyler’s enthusiastic Early Access preview right here.
