ALBUQUERQUE – Hello Ice Wolves fans and welcome to another edition of the Ice Wolves Den. This we feature one of the newest NA3HL Ice Wolves, Defenseman Evan Scholl.
Scholl grew up in Marysville, WA and his life was fairly normal, “My childhood was kind of normal, just more hockey focused. All I wanted to do was play hockey, in school it was normal kid stuff, but outside I was focused on hockey.” Scholl continued, “My Great-grandfather was my inspiration. Anytime I wanted to go watch hockey I always had him to go watch it with. If I had any questions, he was the first person I called, he meant a lot to me. My Grandfather was my other inspiration, day in and day out he was always there to take me to practice. He did a lot for me to let me play hockey and I’ll always appreciate him.”
Scholl knew this was the place to come and further develop his game and admires the fans, “Coach Banks recruited me and told me this was a great place to play and develop. I’d love to continue and end my junior career here.” Scholl said, “I love the fans here, they’re amazing. Seeing them raise the banner for winning the Regular Season makes me hungry to put up more, I want to put up another one of those but I definitely want to put up a Fraser Cup one. I want to bring that here so bad, I can taste it. Seeing the support we get makes me want it more. If you think we want it, these fans want it bad. On a consecutive night these are the biggest crowds I’ve played for and trust me, it drives us to win.”
The NA3HL Ice Wolves were off this past week, but they head to Austin this weekend to take on the Ice Bats, you can catch those games on NATV.
The NAHL Ice Wolves are finally home this weekend after a month long road trip taking on the rival Oklahoma Warriors, whom they faced this past weekend dropping Friday night’s matchup 4-1, but rebounding for a thrilling 3-2 victory Saturday. Saturday was filled with early penalties, with both teams racking up a combined 96 penalty minutes. Friday the Ice Wolves will be celebrating Dia De Los Muertos and wearing specialty jerseys. Puck drop 6:30.
