Earlier this month, basketball fans with Netflix accounts were treated to the streaming service’s hoops docuseries, “Starting 5.” It followed five elite NBA players, including Jayson Tatum, for an entire season, giving viewers a peak behind the curtain.
With the series being such a success, it will be coming back for a second season. Much like the first, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, this one will feature a Boston Celtics star — Jaylen Brown.

JB’s inclusion in the Netflix series should make for an interesting watch. The Georgia native had himself quite the summer after winning Finals MVP in June. He did tons of traveling, worked toward the launch of his 741 Performance clothing line, and even made a few eye-catching red carpet-appearances.
Brown’s 7uice Foundation also continuously works to battle systemic racism and knock down barriers to educational opportunity, socio-economic mobility, and access to health and wellness for marginalized Black and Brown communities. Knowing how passionate he is about the work that his foundation does, it wouldn’t be remotely shocking to learn a bit more about it during the docuseries.
Besides that, we as outsiders don’t know all that much about the Celtics star’s personal life. Any time he’s behind the microphone, Brown is typically mild mannered. It’ll be exciting to get to see more of his day-to-day relationships, much like we did with Tatum in this year’s edition of the show.
Charania’s report didn’t include a release date for Season 2, but you’d have to imagine it’ll be right before the tip-off of the 2025-26 NBA season.
