Nintendo has added two new N64 classics to the Nintendo Switch Online library, and if you’re in the mood for some spooky gaming this Halloween season, then you’re in luck.
These games are being added just a couple of weeks after Rare’s classic 3D platformer Banjo-Tooie was added to the Switch Online list, but the two titles being introduced today arguably couldn’t be more tonally different.
First up, you’re getting old-school action-adventure game Shadow Man, which blends elements of shooters, platformers, and all kinds of other genres. This isn’t Nightdive’s remaster; it’s the original N64 game, presented with all its warts intact.
Also available today is Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, an FPS that serves as a sequel to the 1997 shooter Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.
Funnily enough, this is another game that the ever-diligent retro enthusiasts at Nightdive remastered back in 2017, but again, this isn’t the remastered version; it’s the original N64 release.
The release of both of these games on Nintendo Switch Online was revealed earlier today in a rather amusing (and somewhat uncharacteristic of Nintendo) trailer that calls back to the grindhouse-style trailers of the 1970s. You can check that trailer out right here.
There’s been a fair bit of buzz around Nintendo Switch Online recently, largely thanks to a rather strange game that Switch Online Expansion Pack members were invited to playtest last week.
Naturally, that game was almost immediately leaked, and it’s an odd-looking multiplayer affair that sees players teaming up to populate a planet with all kinds of construction efforts. We don’t know if it’ll be released outside of the playtest yet.
In any case, Shadow Man and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil are available right now for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack members. Watch this space for more info on all things Switch Online-related.
