“When we’re going, it seems to be that he’s on his game,” the Flyers’ Travis Sanheim said. “I think he understands that, he recognizes that, and he wants to be the guy that is leading the way. He’s doing a good job and it’s nice to see him have some success.”

Ivan Fedotov made 23 saves in the win.

“The biggest thing is that we’re playing in fives,” Flyers coach John Tortorella said. “Two biggest things that we worked on when we were all disjointed was playing in fives and making sure we see the third guy high all the time because that allowed us to play on our toes, that allowed us to check forward. That’s been a lot more consistent in our game.”

Rasmus Dahlin and Ryan McLeod scored for the Sabres.

“Right from the start they created momentum in the beginning, we didn’t stop it enough,” Dahlin said. “We didn’t play hard enough the first few minutes and [took] way too many penalties.”

Tyson Foerster staked the Flyers to a 1-0 lead with six minutes left in the first period.

From there, the Flyers piled it on.

Sanheim made it 2-0 two minutes later.

Egor Zamula  pushed the lead out to 3-0 at 2:08 of the middle frame.

Konecny scored off a 2-on-0 rush to extend the lead out to 4-0. at 17:07.

The Sabres twice in the third period to make it 4-2 before Konecny added an empty-net  strike to end the rally.

“I think he certainly feels more comfortable to me,” Tortorella said. “He’s competitive. He just looks the part. He didn’t even look the part his first starts. He looks the part now. He’s just got to stay within himself and keep on playing.”

Devon Levi made 27 saves.
