PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers were taken out of th3ir match with the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night, in the first period. The Flyers were able to settle down a bit in the middle frame, but a three-goal third period did them in, with a 4-1 loss.
Pyotr Kochetkov made 18 saves for the Canes in the win.
Jalen Chatfield scored his first goal of the season with 30 seconds gone in the game for a 1-0 lead to the Canes. His shot from the right point went through traffic and directly into the net.
The Flyers managed to tie the game, 1-1, with 2:13 gone in the middle frame.
Ryan Poehling took in the neutral zone.and skated right to left before writing the puck home from the top of the left circle.
The score stayed that way into the third period when the Canes posted three unanswered goals.
Sebastian Aho picked up an errant puck in the Flyers zone and wristed home the game-winner with 63 seconds gone in the frame.
Jordan Staal pushed the lead to 3-1 with a deflection of a shot form the right point.
Jack Roslovic made the 4-1 at 6:57 of the third off a rebound of a shot by Aho.
