The way I’m treated, the freedom I get playing basketball, the way the Jewish community has accepted me, the way the country and the team have embraced me—it’s almost like I’m a spokesperson for Israeli sports, if you will. But a lot of people don’t understand this: I have a fiancée who’s from Iran. My visit back home was a pleasant visit, but me being here is causing a lot of added stress.
