The Kakko trade was inevitable, something we all knew was coming over the summer, but lingered until near Christmas. Perhaps the biggest question isn’t about the trade(s) made, but the timing and why these weren’t done over the summer. Is this now a lost season?
The players deserve plenty of the blame for how things have unraveled, especially when they have made a seemingly conscious choice to, instead of saying “screw the GM, let’s win and shove this back in his face,” they turtled, got upset, and quit on themselves and the fans. But make no mistake. Chris Drury and James Dolan deserve a lot of blame as well.
