For this roundtable, I asked the staff the following: What was your favorite article you wrote in 2024?
Ian Inangelo
My favorite article of the 2024 season that I wrote was going over the history of the Celtics on Christmas Day. It was fun looking back at the different games stories that came as a result of the Celtics playing on Christmas.

My favorite article from 2024 isn’t one piece, but a series. During the playoffs, I wore a heart monitor for every game and then recapped the ups and downs of my heart rate throughout the night. It was a ton of fun, here’s a link:

On June 15, 2024, Celtics fans around the world were dealing with the agony and ecstasy of sports. The night before, Boston had a chance to sweep the NBA Finals and capture the franchise’s league-best 18th championship. Instead, the Celtics lost game 4 in a blowout that everyone knew was over by the third quarter. Banner 18 was so close, yet it suddenly seemed far away.
Anxiety was understandable, but even with that loss, the Celtics’ postseason record stood at a dominant 15-3. The thought that they might now lose four in a row was simply not credible. To quell fans’ nerves, provide context and encourage confidence, I wrote about historical precedents where teams bounced back from terrible losses.

When we traded for Derrick White, I wasn’t too sure how good he can be. Now he’s one of our most reliable players and in the playoffs he was crucial to our championship run whether it was his blocks at the rim or his big time shot making. To me, he filled the Marcus Smart role where when you need someone to make a play, he rarely disappoints.

My favorite article from 2024 was part of my season-long series where I take a look at how the rest of the league is shaping up around the Celtics. I always enjoy jumping around on league pass to take a look at what the Celtics competition looks like, and also just to enjoy more NBA basketball. This series where I rank all 29 other teams relative to Boston is a fun way for me to assess the rest of league, and essentially determine what their playoff path may look like at the end of the season.

There was nothing like being able to spend one hour in the Celtics’ locker room during their championship celebration — taking in every sound, sight and spray of champagne.
