- Marvel Snap is turning to the side of evil with the new Dark Avengers-themed season
- Norman Osborn’s band of villains masquerades as the heroes we all know and love
- Grab the Iron Patriot, Victoria Hand, Bullseye, Moonstone and Ares to round out your roster
Well, there are big things happening this year in Marvel Snap. How big? Well, what about replacing the Avengers-type big? Yes, the folks at this hit card battler have decided to take a walk on the evil-ler side and introduced a suite of new cards based on the Dark Reign period of Marvel history.
For those not aware, Dark Reign was a comic-book storyline that ran right after the well-known Civil War arc. It saw everyone’s favourite glider-riding lunatic Norman Osborn taking over the remnants of S.H.I.E.L.D. (renaming it H.A.M.M.E.R.) and forming his own version of the Avengers, with villainous characters masquerading as the heroes we all know and love.
As part of this season you’ll be able to nab Norma Osborn as the flag-emblazoned Iron Patriot, second-in-command Victoria Hand (Jan 7th), master marksman Bullseye (Jan 21st), therapist-turned-villainess Moonstone (Jan 14th) and the mostly-mighty Ares (Jan 28th) careful not to get it ripped if you put him near the Sentry). You’ll even get to play them in a new location, Asgard Besieged, which shows the home of Thor under assault by Midgard’s earthly forces.
A shadow grows
For fans, they’ll get a kick out of some well-known, and seemingly-forgotten faces making a return in Marvel Snap. For the rest of us, the variety of powers is sure to be welcome. Victoria Hand for example increases the power of cards created in your hand by 2, while Norman Osborn receives a random 4, 5 or 6-cost card when played. If you’re winning in the location he’s deployed in by the next turn, that card gets a -4 cost, letting you really double down on your victory.
As for what else is on offer, you’ll be able to nab a new card for Daken that depicts him masquerading as his papa, Wolverine, as well as a host of other cosmetics to show off your evil allegiance. And that’s not to mention the debut of Marvel Rivals favourite(?) Galacta who joins the lineup this season!
