Troy transfer Tayton Conerway, the Sun Belt Conference player of the year last season, committed to Indiana today.
Conerway averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals in 30.3 minutes for the Trojans, who won a share of the Sun Belt regular season championship and won the conference tournament title.
He recently completed visits to Indiana, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. Conerway is the sixth portal addition this spring for the Hoosiers, joining Tucker DeVries, Conor Enright, Reed Bailey, Lamar Wilkerson and Jasai Miles.
The 6-foot-3 guard is a native of Burleson, Texas and played at Grayson College and Ranger College before joining Troy in the 2023-24 season.
He’s expected to have one season of eligibility remaining.
A 2020 graduate of Burleson Centennial High School, Conerway joined Grayson College in Denison, Texas, for the 2020-21 season and averaged 7.7 points per game.
He transferred to Ranger College in Ranger, Texas, where he played the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. In his second season at Ranger College, Conerway was an NJCAA D1 first-team All-American selection. He averaged 15.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the floor.
In his first season at Troy, the 2023-24 campaign, Conerway was named the sixth man of the year in the Sun Belt conference. He averaged 11.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals in 20 minutes per game. Conerway shot 47.5 percent from the field and 32.9 percent on 3s.
This past season at Troy, Conerway tallied 98 steals, which ranked third in the country.
He scored a career-high 32 points in an 84-78 loss to Arkansas State on January 11. He was 4-for-5 on 2s, 4-for-7 on 3s and 12-for-15 from the free throw line.
Conerway did struggle against high-major competition last season. In four games against Arkansas, Oregon, Houston and Kentucky, he shot 12-for-45 from the field and averaged 7.5 points per game.

2023-24 (Junior)
