Celtics-Magic will be a clash of opposites. Boston shoots a ton of threes; Orlando tries to take them away. The Magic’s stars shoot a lot in the mid-range; the Celtics try to force opponents into those inefficient looks.
Despite the Magic winning the regular season series 2-1, the Celtics are heavily favored to win their first round matchup (-8000) and they’re a +185 to raise Banner 19 and the Larry O’Brien trophy in July. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. It’s just the opening weekend of the postseason and there’s plenty of basketball to be played over the next two-plus months.

After an 82-game grind of a regular season, teams development personalities and by the time the playoffs start, there’s a certain DNA you can expect. However, Game 1s can be a little bit of a feeling out process, a testing ground for what works and what doesn’t.
Oftentimes, teams are relying on their stars to do star things to win their openers. Jalen Brunson figured things out at MSG and came up clutch for the Knicks in the fourth quarter. Anthony Edwards played a near-perfect game in Minnesota’s blowout over LA.
For today’s No Sweat Same Game Parlay, let’s lean heavily into Boston’s MVP candidate, Jayson Tatum. In his only game against Orlando this season and the Celtics only win against the Magic, Tatum poured in an efficient 30 points, (12-of-21 from the field, 4-of-9 behind the arc). Our friends at FanDuel have Tatum scoring +30 points in Game 1 at +230.
The biggest question for Boston heading into the opener has been the health of Jaylen Brown. By all accounts from coaches and teammates, he’s looked great in practice and should be ready to go on Sunday. In two games against Orlando, he averaged a cool 27.5-7.5-5. FD has Brown at -108 to chip in a combined 23.5 in points and assists in Game 1.
Paired with the Celtics -950 on the moneyline, that 3-way Same Game Parlay wins you $57.47 on a $10 wager.
