Giants Take it 8-7 in the 3rd / 4th Place Game


It wasn’t to be for the Steelers on Sunday afternoon in the 3rd / 4th place place play off game.

Steelers led after the opening period but the Giants came back to win 8-7

The story of this one …

Curtis Warburton makes his first Steelers start of the season in the 3rd / 4th place game against the Belfast Giants.

It didn’t start to well for him as well conceding after both 9 seconds and 26 seconds as Bobo Carpenter hit a brace.

Patrick Watling (5.35) had the Steelers on the board (1-2) before Jordan Kawaguchi opened up the 2 goal advantage once again (8.58)

Brandon Whistle scored a great, skilled goal (10.45) for 2-3 before Sam Tremblay levelled the game (3-3) at 14.05

Steelers led for the first time at 15.10 when Mitchell Balmas scored, assisted Colton Saucerman

Steelers lead 4-3 after 20 minutes

Not for long and Daniel Leavens is on the board at 50.00 to tie the game 6-6

Giants hit back with a pair of their own, first Osterberg makes it 6-7 at 51.42 and then Boudrais for 6-8 moments later

Steelers did pull Curtis Warburton to the bench looking for the equaliser but it wasn’t to be

Steelers received a standing ovation from the fans who had attended this weekend as both players and supporters said good bye (for now)
