Jaxson Dart’s mom ‘wins NFL Draft’ as quarterback’s limelight stolen – Football – Sports

Jaxson Dart had ample cause for celebration after he was picked by the New York Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft – but fans remarked that he was upstaged by his mom. It makes her not the only female to steal the limelight away from a star drafted.

Ex-Ole Miss quarterback Darty is tipped to become a star of the future after securing his move to MetLife Stadium following his impressive performances at collegiate level. The 21-year-old was selected by the Giants as the 25th overall pick during the first round of the spectacle at Lambeau Field. The Utah-native was a standout performer during his final season with the Rebels, tallying up 69.3 percent of his passes for 4,279 yards with 29 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Appropriately, he also broke the program’s all-time record in terms of passing yards – with the haul previously held by future Giants stalwart Eli Manning. The youngster is recognized as a significant dual-threat talent, who is set to compete with Russell Wilson for a starting spot in the Big Apple next term.

However, fans who watched the draft were of the belief that Dart’s mom, Kara, stole the show during the event. The prospect turned to face his mom, before they embraced as she wiped away tears in a moving scene which was shown during ESPN’s coverage.

One fan reflected on this emotional moment on social media, saying: “Giants should have drafted his mom. Did you see those guns?” as a second then also made reference to Kara, saying: “Jaxon (sic) Dart’s mom puts in time in the gym. Guns.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “As a friendly Giants fan…I’d like to personally welcome Jaxson Dart’s mom to New York City,” as a fourth then added: “Jaxson Dart’s mom might have just won the NFL Draft.”

In January, Dart spoke about the influence his mom has had on his career so far, as he spoke of their close relationship in the aftermath of Ole Miss’ victory over the Duke Blue Devils. He revealed: “I told my mom I was going to leave everything I had on the field and I did.”

Aside from matters on the field, he also previously informed GQ that his mom has had a major impact on a host of different aspects of his life to-date – including his fashion choices. He said: “I’ve relied on her for a lot of things in the fashion world.

DON’T MISS:

“At the same time, I think she gives great input. She worked at Nordstrom growing up, so she’s always been a part of it. My mom’s into it, and she’s done a great job of letting me choose and find things that I like and just giving me options.”

Giants general manager Joe Schoen spoke of his delight at being able to welcome Dart to the fold ahead of next season. He said of the prodigy’s impending arrival: “Fired up to get him. We went through an extensive quarterback process.

“It started as far back as last May, in terms of evaluating the quarterbacks. Dabes [Brian Daboll] and I have been through this quite a few times, and at the end of the day, we’re fired up to have Jaxson Dart as part of the organization and look forward to working with him.”
