K’Andre Miller has surgery to address upper body injury

One of the themes of breakup day was injuries, with several Rangers playing through multiple injuries. Chris Kreider had back spasms and vertigo, Braden Schneider had a two year old torn labrum surgically repaired, and there were other bumps and bruises. Left off that report was K’Andre Miller, who just had surgery to address an upper body injury. The injury occurred “at the end of this past season,” which I’m taking to mean 2025, not 2024.

Miller has been the target of a ton of discourse throughout the season, continuing into the offseason. Playing hurt through the end of the season, when the Rangers were already eliminated from playoff contention, was just silly. But that’s mostly on Peter Laviolette for playing him despite the injury. It seems very short sighted.

It’s worth noting that Zac Jones was not hurt at all, yet couldn’t buy ice time despite the injuries and also clearly being better than half the defensemen the Rangers threw out there. Another disappointing revelation about the 2024-2025 New York Rangers.
