The NCAA’s June Scholastic Live Period, intended for high school teams to play in front of college coaches in a true scholastic setting, is now one of the most important stops on the NCAA recruiting calendar. It’s not a surprise live period events in power state such as California, Texas and Georgia are popular events.
Section 7 in Arizona has been a terrific event for West Region teams, TABC Live in Texas hosts over XXX teams from the Lone Star State and GBCA (Georgia Basketball Coaches Association) Live is top-tier as well.
This year Section 7, TABC and GBCA Live take place during the first live weekend, June 20-22. GBCA Live is being held at the Lake Point Champions Center (Emerson, Ga.). During the second weekend (June 27-29), many top teams in the West will play at Cali Live ’25 in Southern California, while the Lake Point Champions Center will host the Southeastern Regional for teams from that region.
We take a look at five teams to watch and 10 players to watch at this weekend’s GBCA Live:
GBCA Georgia Live: Teams To Watch
1. Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.) 29-3 (No. 22 2024-25 Final FAB 50)
Wheeler finished the 2024-2025 season as the top team in the Peach State, capturing the tenth state title in school history. Although the Wildcats graduated several key players from last year’s championship team, they return two of the best teams players in the Southeast Region. Colben Landrew and Kevin Savage will lead the Wildcats in 2025-26 in their quest for a repeat title. Both players spent time overseas this summer, participating in the Adidas circuit and playing well at the NBPA Top 100 camp in Rock Hill. With these highly regarded returning players, Wheeler is definitely a team that will make noise at GBCA Live.
2. Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) 28-3 (No. 14 2024-25 Final Southeast Top 20)
Grayson fell to Wheeler in the GHSA Class 6A Final Four last season, ending its bid to be the first repeat champions in Georgia’s highest classification in over a decade. The Rams were hit hard by graduation and transfers, but despite the losses the Rams have some of the best youth in the state college coaches will want to look at in the scholastic setting. Grayson welcomes top 100 rising 2029’s Austin Leonard and Jacorey Thompson, alongside top 100 2028 Blaze Johnson. The Rams have also added 2027 transfer M.J. Curry, giving them excellent backcourt depth.
3. North Oconee (Bogart, Ga.) 30-2
North Oconee enters 2025-26 as the two-time reigning champion in Class 4A, winning 30 games in each of those seasons. The good thing for college coaches is N.O. graduated only one senior from last year’s team. Led by rising junior guard Justin Wise, the Titans will be one of the most watched teams at Lake Point Champions Center. With considerable depth and a standout player at the helm, North Oconee will likely be one of the teams where players leave June with considerably more college offers.
4. Sandy Creek (Tyrone, Ga.) 29-3
The Patriots have been one of the best teams in Georgia in recent years, even though the roster doesn’t have star power. Instead, the Patriots rely on toughness and grit to secure victories and make their players look good, particularly 2026 Avohn Florence. Over the past three seasons, they have accumulated over 80 wins, establishing themselves as the team to beat in Georgia’s 3A classification. Although the Patriots graduated five players and two all-staters off last season’s teams, eight rising seniors return, as the core looks to increase its scholarship offer count.
5. Tri-Cities (East Point, Ga.) 26-6
The Bulldogs will begin the 2025-2026 season as the defending champions in Georgia’s second-highest classification (5A). The team graduated two key seniors, but will again be led by two standout recruits, Tre Keith and Jalan Wingfield. With their top two players returning, it could help the core of the roster get some attention from college coaches this weekend.

GBCA Georgia Live Players To Watch
1. Colben Landrew, Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.) 6-5 2026
Landrew transferred to Wheeler from Alabama and immediately made his mark. He secured plenty of accolades a year ago, including Region Player of the Year. Landrew has since burst on the national scene with solid performances in Italy during the Adidas Euro Camp and had a strong showing at the NBPA Top 100 camp in Rock Hill. Coming into the season, Landrew will be a front-runner for Georgia’s Mr. Basketball.
2. Kevin Savage III, Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.) 5-11 2027
Savage had a breakout season for Wheeler in 2024-25, stepping into a larger role and positioning himself as one of the top point guards in his national class. Despite his size, Savage is currently a Top 50 player in the country. Coming off a standout performance at the NBPA Top 100 camp, Savage makes Wheeler go and can help his teammate look good this weekend.
3. Nasir Anderson, Norcross (Ga.) 6-2 2027
Anderson is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country and all the Blue Bloods will be watching the next two weekends. Relatively unknown, he transferred to Norcross a year ago and had a quick rise as a national recruit. This summer, Anderson made the 16U National Team, impressively helping Team USA secure the FIBA 16U America Cup Gold Medal. Anderson was named tournament MVP and is primed for a monster junior season.
4. A.J. Williams, Dutchtown (Hampton, Ga.) 6-7 2028
Williams is a budding star who has entered the national scene in the past year and is currently a Top 5 prospect in the national class. As a freshman, Williams starred for a 26-4 team and earning national acclaim. The budding wing was named Class 5A Freshman of the Year as well as Ballislife National Freshman of the Year in a close vote. Williams showed what type of player he was in Mexico with 16U Team USA as its second leading scorer and top rebounder.
5. Bentley Lusakueno, Pace Academy (Atlanta) 6’9 2028
Bentley has one of the highest ceilings of any player in the country and is currently ranked No. 1 in the ESPN Top 25. That is based on potential and he’s still more prospect than dominant player. His progress will be watched and expect Bentley to be a focal point for coach Sharman White at Pace Academy this season. Bentley won a gold medal in Mexico this summer and his experience at events is quickly helping his development.
6. Blaze Johnson, Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) 6-3 2028
As a freshman, Johnson stepped into a significant role for a nationally ranked Grayson team last season, providing a spark off the bench with his knock-down shooting. Johnson is expected to make a substantial leap under coach Geoffrey Pierce as the primary ball handler for a team with a new look.
7. Jalan Wingfield, Tri-Cities (East Point, Ga.) 6-7 2026
Wingfield was the most significant piece for Tri-Cities a season ago as it secured a state title. Wingfield is a big-bodied, high-motor athlete who plays with a chip on his shoulder. Ranked in the top 100 in the national Class of 2026, Wingfield will carry the load this season as Tri-Cities pursues a repeat.
8. Justin Wise, North Oconee (Bogart, Ga.) 6-4 2027
Wise can be described as a winner. After clinching two state titles in his first two high school seasons, he enters his junior year with the goal of a three-peat. He has already surpassed 1,000 points and is known as a knockdown shooter and pure scorer. Wise is also an exceptional athlete with impressive positional size. His talent has made him a sought-after prospect, and he’ll be closely watched in June as he mulls over multiple high-major offers.
9. M.J. Curry, Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) 6-5 2027
Curry is the player on this list who has the potential to make the most significant leap over the next calendar year and expect that to begin during the June scholastic live period. After spending his first two season at Grovetown (Augusta, Ga.), he transferred to Grayson this offseason. Curry is an exceptional shooter and an elite athlete who excels on both ends of the court.
10. Tre Keith, Tri-Cities (East Point, GA) 6-2 2027
Keith was the primary ball handler on a state championship team a year ago as a sophomore. As a junior, Keith is expected to make a leap and continue to separate himself from other guards in his class. Keith is a 3-level scorer with a quick first step and a nightmare matchup on both sides of the ball.
