On Tuesday night, the Celtics traded Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Georges Niang and a second-round pick, as part of a three-team trade that includes the Brooklyn Nets, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The trade came just a few hours after Porzingis posted on his Instagram story that he was feeling much better: “I’ve been feeling excellent all offseason and looking forward to a healthy and strong European championship with my NT.”
On Wednesday morning, Porzingis turned to social media to reflect on his Celtics tenure: “Boston will always be special in my heart. Huge thank you to the organization, coaches, staff, my teammates, and the fans! Class organization. Forever grateful.”

Though Porzingis struggled mightily in the Celtics’ most recent playoff run, averaging 7.7 points per game on 31.1% shooting, Porzingis had a solid two-year tenure with the Celtics.
Last year, he averaged 19.5 points and 6.8 rebounds, shooting 48.3% from the field and 41.2% from three. He appeared in 57 games in his first season with the Celtics and in 42 games in his second season.
He posted a video of his transition block from Game 1 of the NBA Finals in 2024, writing: “Thank you for all the memories Celtics fans!! Special moments.”
