Hours after Dmitry Orlov stated he would not be returning to Carolina, the Hurricanes swooped in for a potential K’Andre Miller trade. Despite having 4 separate people confirm Detroit as the likely destination, it appears that won’t happen. The Canes are working with Miller on an extension, and assuming that falls into place, the trade will be done. No word on return just yet.
Assuming the Detroit rumors were true, which I’m operating under that assumption since 4 people said it was true and it’s possible something changed last second in Raleigh (like Orlov), then don’t expect much in terms of roster players. Probably a 2027 1st round pick, though a 2026 is preferrable and probably on the table from Carolina given they’re a lock for the playoffs.
