One minute after publishing the Rangers summary of moves today, they go and make another move. Derrick Pouliot has been added to the defensive depth on a two year, two way contract. He will earn league minimum at the NHL level ($775k) and $425k at the AHL level. As a reminder this isn’t a video game, two-way deals have no bearing on waivers. They just dictate salaries.
The 31 year old Pouliot has played the better part of the last six seasons in the AHL, so this is probably more of an AHL move than an NHL move, but he still gets call ups here and there. But he’s also a Stanley Cup winner with the Penguins and Mike Sullivan, so there’s some familiarity there.
