Rangers sign forward Justin Dowling to 2 year contract


The Rangers bolstered their AHL depth, signing forward Justin Dowling to a 2 year contract. The 34 year old forward actually played 52 games with the Devils last season thanks to all their injuries, putting up 2-5-7 in the process. He has 100 additional NHL games throughout his 13 year career, with a line of 9-17-26 in 152 games. He’s not an NHL player, though he does bolster NHL depth in case of numerous injuries.

Justin Dowling will likely be the Rangers 14F/15F, behind Jonny Brodzinski, Matt Rempe, and some of the prospects that will probably start the year in the AHL. Yes that list may include Gabe Perreault. Dowling is AHL depth and NHL injury insurance. His two year deal comes with a $775,000 NHL cap hit.
