The Rangers have added more AHL depth, signing forward Trey Fix-Wolansky to a one year contract with a $775,000 cap hit at the NHL level. It’s a two-way contract for Fix-Wolansky, meaning he’s more than likely to be AHL depth than have a role with the Rangers. The 26 year old, 7th round draft pick from 2018 put up back to back 60 point seasons with Cleveland in the AHL, and is expected to be a solid add for the Hartford Wolf Pack, replacing the departed Alex Belzile.
Fix-Wolansky may be “short” at 5’7, but he’s a strong 193 lbs and has the points to prove it, at least at the AHL level. Hartford desperately needs scoring with so many veterans departing, and Fix-Wolansky will help move the development paths along for Brett Berard, Adam Sykora, Gabe Perreault, Brennan Othmann, and anyone else who winds up playing with him. This is a solid depth signing for the Pack.
