Although it may have taken him till the New Year to do so, veteran forward Max Pacioretty has begun his Washington Capitals career off to a flying start, showing early flashes of why the team’s brass took a chance on him last summer.
After recording his first point as a member of the Caps in the team’s last game against the Los Angeles Kings, the former captain of the Montreal Canadiens notched his first goal of the season and in a Capitals sweater in the second period of the team’s contest against the Seattle Kraken at Capital One Arena; Alex Ovechkin and Trevor van Riemsdyk recorded the assists on the goal.
Max Pacioretty’s last goal was on Jan. 10, 2023 and now he’s got one tonight in only his fourth game as a Capital.

The goal is Pacioretty’s first tally in just over a year, with his last goal coming on January 10, 2023 as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes. The 35-year old forward is playing in just his fourth game of the season, having been battling a torn Achilles that limited him to 44 games in the prior two campaigns; despite this, Capitals General Manager Brian MacLellan took a flyer on the longtime Montreal Canadien (who has also seen time with the Vegas Golden Knights) last summer in free agency.
