All Pawn Specializations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and how to get them

Your Pawns can have unique traits called Specializations that make them helpful to any Arisen. But what are all the Pawn Specializations and how can you get them in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to get all Pawn Specializations

So far, we have discovered six Pawn Specializations, and you can acquire them all for your main Pawn by completing side quests and befriending NPCs with similar traits. While we’re still uncertain as to how you can earn every Specialization at the moment, we’ve discovered a few methods so far:

Specialization Description Quest NPC and Location
Chirurgeon Use curatives on the Arisen and other allies. Medicament Predicament Flora – Melve, Vernworth
Logistician Combine materials and move items between allies’ packs.
Forager Mark the locations of enhancement materials on the map.
Hawker Offer to purchase a selection of items from the inventory for a fair sum of gold.
Aphonite Will not speak a word, except under very select circumstances.
Woodland Wordsmith Can interpret Elvish for the Arisen.

Aside from your main Pawn, you can easily acquire Pawns of other Specializations just by hiring them through the Rift. This makes it a lot easier to get a chance to play around with the other Specializations even though your main Pawn may not have them yet. You can check each Pawn’s Specialization before hiring them too.

As a reminder, your main Pawn can only have one Specialization at a time. Upon receiving a Specialization Tome from an NPC you’ve befriended (typically by completing the quests above), you can give the Tome to your main Pawn for them to use. Anyone you give your Pawn ID to or anyone who brings your Pawn into their world will be able to use your main Pawn’s current Specialization.

It’s also interesting how you get the Tome itself. For example, while I completed the side quest Medicament Predicament with Flora in Melve, once I traveled to the larger city of Vernworth I saw her again. After having a brief chat with her, she randomly gave me Chirurgeon’s Tome. This means that although you may not receive a Specialization as a reward right away from an NPC, continue to chat with them to unlock the Tome.

It’s also important to remember that these NPCs share similar traits with the Specialization you desire. Flora was looking for medicine, and Chirurgeon allows my Pawn to give medicine to party members during combat. As you can tell, NPCs play a huge part in Dragon’s Dogma 2, especially since they can permanently die.
