On Kyrie Irving and what does he see and like about the Dallas Mavericks this year… Stoudemire: Kyrie hit an amazing game winning shot with his left hand… Incredible! I saw my guy Ky in the beginning when he was at Duke all the way through; he’s an AMAZING talent. He should be a NBA All-Time Top 75 player. No questions about it, understand? And to see him now too with Luka [Doncic] and now he was brought out on this stage playing with American players when he was overseas playing and now for him to be drafted in the NBA playing against these guys; his peers that he was playing against when he was a youngster. To see him prosper in Dallas; the organization that I played for is an AMAZING organization and to see that combination is working prosperously, it’s beautiful to see, right? And so my thing is for those guys to continue to grow is good for basketball so I’m looking forward to that prosperity even more.

Fantastic defensive performance by Golden State, with Wiggins and Draymond throwing it back to 2022. Steph also held up ok vs Kyrie. Meanwhile for Dallas, PJ Washington really struggled to convert his many opportunities against a scrambling defense. – 12:20 AM

Don’t love the decision to leave Steph and Draymond on the bench here with 7 mins left up 11. Kyrie hits an and one jumper, then split cut action to nowhere with neither Steph or Klay on the floor. Lead down to 6 in 2 possessions, now the timeout to get them back in. (Started… – 12:01 AM

Mavericks have yet to top 27 in a quarter. Expect a push from Luka/Kyrie in the fourth quarter.
I’d keep forcing other Mavericks to make plays – 11:49 PM

Kyrie Irving just doesn’t miss when he’s in rhythm and gets to his sweet spots. Mavericks are up 61-58. Should be a gripping finish at Chase Center. – 11:33 PM

Intense in SF. Tied at 49 after Mavs go on a13-0 run in last 3:13 of the half. This after GS had a 14-0 run. Lots of contact allowed, especially around the rim. Who fights through it best determines this. Luka 17-5-3. Kyrie w/12. Curry 11 for GS. 2nd half soon @971TheFreak – 11:12 PM

Great to see Kyrie Irving is a qualifier again to be among NBA leaders in per game stats. Now played in 52 of 74 games, passing the 70% of games requirement to qualify. Kai is 14th in scoring (25.3 ppg) & 20th in steals (1.2 spg). Gotta play 6 of last 8 to maintain 70% for year. – 10:43 AM

More on this storyline
Amare Stoudemire: The number #32 was inspired by my brother (Rest in Peace) Hazell Stoudamire Jr., you feel me? And then Shaq also played for number #32 in Orlando so that was also another great moment for myself. So, it’s a little bit of both. On what he remembers about Shaq growing up in the Orlando days when he was growing up in Lake Wales… Amare Stoudemire: So Shaq came out of LSU ripping down backboards dominating, right? My brother was locked up doing an 8-year bid upstate New York so his energy and his persona — the way he played the game, the way his personality was reminded me of my brother, right? So, that energy that I took from him correlated with me. So that number #32 jersey and they both played that same number, that made me want to take that #32 jersey to the next level. -via YouTube / April 3, 2024
On what current NBA player he sees anyone breaking that 40,000 point plateau… Amare Stoudemire: Luka [Doncic] maybe. Other than that, no. Kevin Durant possibly… but other than that, no I don’t see it. I don’t see it bro. LeBron James is a SPECTACULAR human being first and foremost. Along with the God given talent that God blessed him with, you understand me? That is what’s remarkable about LeBron James. -via YouTube / April 3, 2024

Then Dallas kept him in a similar role, his shooting fell off after a strong start, and rumblings started that they could already be looking to move him. But even if it wasn’t the role he wanted, he understood why it didn’t change as much as he hoped. “I didn’t expect anything else. Luka (Dončić) does a phenomenal job and Kyrie (Irving) and all those guys get you open looks and you just gotta knock them down,” Williams said. “And no matter if it’s on time, off time, you have to be able to knock them down if you’re a good shooter. And I thought I did a decent job, shot like 36 percent when I was there. “But knowing the caliber of shooter I am, I’m still frustrated with myself this season. But I think that down there, I still talked, the same vocal guy. I think they were receptive, I just got to keep my performances high so I can do that.” -via The Athletic / April 2, 2024
