Julia Poe: Billy Donovan on how he valued the current Bulls players going into the trade deadline: “I think Alex Caruso is one of the most valuable players in the NBA. I think you need to get a haul for him. Those players like DeMar DeRozan, like Alex Caruso just don’t grow on trees.”

Only guy I would feel really confident in moving needle for Bucks is Caruso, even if it means most of AJax/MarJon/all our seconds go out the door. Don’t think Bulls are that interested in dealing though. FWIW: I like AJax but need to be realistic about his ceiling/timeline vs. AC – 1:20 PM

Main thing I’m interested in today and what will probably dictate how eventful this deadline becomes is if the Kings/Pelicans/Thunder (West teams with real assets) try to make a jump with the half-dozen guys that could really improve their team. Brown, Kuzma, Caruso, etc. – 10:38 AM
Mike McGraw @McGrawDHSports
Happy #NBA trade deadline day. #Bulls have gone 19-13 since making the flip from LaVine to Coby White’s team. But sure, let’s get upset if AK doesn’t trade Caruso for a top-15 protected first-rounder. – 9:23 AM

We’ve heard Billy Donovan talk about this — one thing that really sets apart this season from the past for Coby White is his ability to recover from rough first halves.
That resiliency to overcome a shooting drought or a flurry of mistakes is so key to the growth he’s made. – 9:54 PM

Andre Drummond smacked away a shot by Anthony Edwards, but was called for a foul. Immediately begged the Bulls bench for a challenge.
After watching the replay on the big screen, Billy Donovan did indeed challenge the call. – 8:20 PM

More on this storyline

In exploratory trade talks with the Golden State Warriors centered on Alex Caruso, league sources said the Bulls inquired about Jonathan Kuminga’s availability. That was rebuffed, and the Bulls made clear in talks with all teams that they didn’t want to trade Caruso, especially for a package on perhaps other young pieces like Moses Moody, so they’d need to be floored by an offer to do so. -via NBC Sports Chicago / February 8, 2024

KC Johnson: Nothing has changed on Caruso. Bulls have never wanted to move him. It would take “blow them away” offer. -via Twitter @KCJHoop / February 8, 2024
KC Johnson: More Ball on @NBCSChicago: “The main thing that keeps me going is the main goal, and that’s to come back and play.” Ball adds he’s doing “much better” and he’s “getting better each week.” Billy Donovan said yesterday Ball has been pain-free but hasn’t started running, cutting -via Twitter @KCJHoop / February 3, 2024

Today’s choice to undergo surgery was made after Zach sought second opinions from a specialist in Los Angeles and from several other doctors over the phone. “It’s definitely Zach’s decision.” pic.twitter.com/NQJsea3nG1 -via Twitter @byjuliapoe / February 3, 2024
