VITALS
Trineyev, 22, is a 6’-2”, 190lb winger drafted by the Capitals in the 4th round (#117 overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The Capitals announced on May 2, 2022, that they had signed Trineyev to a three-year entry-level deal. His contract carries an average annual value of $859,167.
CAREER SUMMARY
Trineyev played internationally with Russia on their Under 16, Under 17, and Under 18 teams, and has been very productive each time, most recently playing on the top line for the Under 18 team.
During the 2019-20 season, Trineyev primarily played with Dynamo’s MHL (juniors) affiliate, MHK Moskva Dynamo. He played in 36 games, scoring 12 goals and recording 14 assists. He also played one game with Dynamo Tver at the VHL level.
Trineyev also participated in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, scoring two goals and recording two assists in four games. He spent much of his time on the ice with fellow prospects Ivan Didkovsky and Dmitri Zlodeyev.
The 2020-21 season saw Trineyev play at all three levels of the KHL system, including three games with the parent club, Dynamo Moscow. Trineyev spent a majority of his season with Dynamo Moskva of the MHL, where he had 15 goals and 15 assists in 33 games played.
The 2021-22 season saw more of the same for Trineyev. He started the season on the injury list with a damaged wrist he sustained in pre-season action. In the end, he finished the season playing 11 games with the parent KHL team but recorded no points. He played 21 games with the junior team, scoring three goals and recording 15 assists.
On May 2 2022, Trineyev signed his first NHL contract with the Capitals and, on the following day, signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Hershey Bears. Trineyev then made his way from Russia to Hershey in time for a few practices and made his AHL debut in the Bears must-win Game 2 of their first-round series with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He would play in two postseason games with the Bears.
Russian media outlet Sport24 reported on May 13 that Trineyev would return to Dynamo Moscow the upcoming season on loan from the Capitals.
Trineyev’s 2022-23 season involved more games at the KHL level, where he recorded two goals and 11 assists in 39 regular season games and two assists in five postseason games. Trineyev made the KHL team’s opening night roster.
As he did in 2021-22, Trineyev reported to AHL Hershey after Dynamo’s postseason run. Trineyev played in two regular season games but recorded no points.
2023-24 was Trineyev’s first full season in North America which he spent with the Hershey Bears. He was initially assigned to the fourth line which did not fit his skillset and often, he would be swapped in and out of the lineup with Ryan Hofer and others during the early part of the season. But he ultimately adjusted to a checking line role and became a lineup regular.
Towards the end of the season, he was one of the most relied upon penalty killers. One of his more memorable moments was scoring the goal in the Teddy Bear Toss game which led to the teddy bears being tossed onto the ice and eventually donated to charity. His final statistics for the regular season were 9 goals and 7 assists in 63 games. He played in all the postseason games for the Bears and scored no goals but recorded four assists. One of those assists was on a game-winning goal by Henrik Rybinski in the second game of the first round against Lehigh Valley.
2023-2024 MONTH-BY-MONTH RECAP AND TREND ANALYSIS
The following is a compilation of our month-by-month prospect reports for Bogdan Trineyev for the 2023-2024 season. You can find all our monthly prospect reports on our “Prospects” page in the top menu.
OCTOBER
Trineyev began his first full season in North America a bit slowly. To be fair, he was placed in a role that really does not fit his skill set. Trineyev has been playing on the fourth line alongside Riley Sutter to get him into the lineup with Hershey’s deep forward corps. He has not been a liability in his spot, but he has not looked comfortable playing basically in a checking line role.

Trineyev has struggled to get into a flow, offensively. He recorded his first AHL goal in October’s final game against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on the 29th. The Russian broke down the middle, took a pass from Nic Aube-Kubel, and snapped a shot over the glove of Joel Blomqvist. The marker was Trineyev’s lone point of the month.
NOVEMBER
Trineyev started the month well by achieving his first career multi-point game against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on November 1. First, he made a play in the second period while taking a hit along the boards and tapped the puck to Nic Aube-Kubel, who scored after his attempted pass was knocked into his own net by a Phantom defenseman. Trineyev then elevated a shot over the glove of Felix Sandstrom for a shorthanded tally. He skated in the next game but then was a healthy scratch for the next two contests. The rookie fell into a bit of a rotation, after that, switching in and out of the lineup with Ryan Hofer. He got back into the lineup for the last two games of the month and contributed two assists in a wild 7-5 triumph over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on November 29. Trineyev has played well when given the opportunity. If he gets more consistent ice time, the winger can be a contributor moving forward.
DECEMBER
The rookie winger played in 12 of Hershey’s 13 games in December. That is the most games he has played in a month. Trineyev was held without a point for the first 10 games but finished December on a two-game point streak. He potted his first goal since November 17 on December 29 when he fired the puck into the empty net to seal a 4-2 victory It was the Russian’s fourth tally of the season. On December 30, he earned the primary assist when he turned from the inside of the left circle and found Matt Strome open in front.

Trineyev has played better on his own end and is a responsible player. This is why he has found more consistent playing time. The winger is not going to score consistently at this point of his career, but he can still be relied on to go out a give a solid shift.
JANUARY
The biggest moment of the month for Trineyev came on January 7 when his second-period goal triggered an avalanche of stuffed animals on Teddy Bear Toss night. On the goal, the rookie winger muscled Lehigh Valley’s Victor Mete off the puck and discharged a shot from the bottom of the right circle that beat Cal Petersen over the shoulder. It would be the only tally of the month for the Russian. He added an assist on a Garrett Roe marker in Lehigh Valley on January 13. Trineyev would not record a point in the last seven games of the month, but the winger found other ways to contribute. The native of Voronezh, Russia has developed into a solid penalty killer. He makes good decisions and disrupts opponents’ power play with his aggressiveness.

FEBRUARY
The rookie went scoreless in the first five games of February to extend his scoreless streak to 12 games but broke out of the drought in the third period in Laval on February 21. With the Bears trailing by a goal in the third period, the Russian stole the puck along the boards at center ice, accelerated into the offensive zone and executed a toe drag that caused Oliver Galipeau to lose his balance. The winger then backhanded his shot by Jakub Dobes to even the score. The tally sparked a three-game goal streak for Trineyev. He potted an empty net goal against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on February 23. The next night versus Rochester, the Voronezh, Russia native brought Hershey even in the second period when he rifled a shot over the right shoulder from just below the left circle. The three tallies were the extent of Trineyev’s offensive contributions for the month. The winger has developed into a strong penalty killer and has earned the trust of the coaching staff in that area.
MARCH
The rookie winger skated in all 11 games in March. Trineyev posted three points in the month. His lone tally of March was a shorthanded, empty net goal with four seconds remaining in a 4-0 victory over Hartford on March 17. It was his team leading third shorthanded goal of the season. That the Russian’s goal came shorthanded is fitting because that is the area where he has the most impact. Trineyev is usually paired with Henrik Rybinski on the penalty kill and the duo is a consistent part of the shorthanded rotation. He does a solid job of getting into shooting lanes and breaking up passes.
APRIL
Trineyev was pointless during April, but he continued to be a stalwart on the fourth line with Ryan Sutter and for penalty killing.
His final statistics for the regular season were 9 goals and 7 assists in 63 games played
POSTSEASON
He played in every game for the Bears in the postseason. He did not have any goals but recorded four assists. He had two assists in the Bears’ first-round series against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In the first game, he assisted on Henrik Rybinski’s goal at 17:17 in the second period. This goal put the Bears ahead 2-0 and was the game-winner in an eventual 2-1 Bears victory.
In the second game, a 5-1 win, on May 4, Trineyev had two assists. Henrik Rybinski deflected a Bogdan Trineyev shot into the goal for a 3-1 lead with 15:12 left in the second. Trineyev also assisted on the empty net goal that Hendrix Lapierre scored at 16:30.

He also assisted on a Rybinski goal in the third game of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Monsters, a game they won 6-2.
His effort in Game 6 of the Calder Cup Finals against the Coachella Valley Firebirds forced the turnover that led to Matt Strome’s game-winning goal in Overtime.

PLAYER FORECAST
Trineyev will likely remain with the Bears for the 2024-25 season. He is expected to grow in his role as a fourth-liner and continue to kill penalties. He hopes to improve his offense and eventually earn a call-up to the NHL.
