In the chief support bout of the Jaron Ennis vs Eimantas Stanionis event, former WBA featherweight world champion Raymond “Savage” Ford delivered a dominant performance, as he defeated Thomas Mattice (22-5-1, 17 KOs) by way of unanimous decision.
The match was never in doubt as Ford was able to showcase his offensive arsenal. Mattice showed toughness, but unfortunately for Mattice, he wasn’t able to generate enough offense to give himself a chance to win the fight.
In the opening round of the scheduled 10-round super-featherweight bout, Raymond Ford was on the front foot, utilizing his southpaw jab. Ford only needed 40 seconds to close the distance, get in range, and land a flurry of punches.
In the second round, Ford continued to land accurate shots to the head and body of his opponent. Mattice was doing lot of talking, but he wasn’t throwing many punches.
At the midway point of round 2, Mattice finally landed two lead right hands, but Ford responded by connecting with a solid left-hand shot. Mattice tried to be the aggressor in the third round, as he proceeded to press forward.

Raymond Ford wasn’t bothered by his opponent’s aggression. Ford continued to land the jab, the right hook, and sharp combination shots while fighting off the back foot.
It was more of the same in the 4th round as Ford continued to dictate the pace of the fight as he changed levels with the jab and landed a solid combination. In the final seconds of the fourth, Mattice connected with a good lead right hand, but Ford responded by landing the jab to the head, and the left to the body.
Mattice was aggressively pressing forward in the sixth, but once again, he wasn’t throwing any punches. When Mattice finally decided to throw a punch, he landed a solid shot to the body, but Ford responded by connecting with a three-punch combination.
Down the stretch, Raymond Ford continued to show why he is levels above Thomas Mattice. At the conclusion of the 10-round bout, Ford was declared the unanimous decision winner, as all three judges scored the contest (100-90) in favor of Ford.
