Washington Capitals prospect Cam Allen will finally make his long awaited return to the Guelph Storm of the OHL, following offseason shoulder surgery back in August 2023. The right-shot defenseman has missed the first 43 games thus far for Guelph.

Allen, who was drafted in the fifth round by Washington with the 136th pick, had not played a game since the U18 Worlds back in April, where he was the captain for Team Canada and led them to a gold medal.

The Toronto, Ontario, native had 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 62 games for the Guelph Storm of the OHL in the 2022-23 season. The year prior, he was awarded the Emms Family Award, which is given out annually to OHL Rookie of the Year. That same year he was named to the OHL First All-Rookie squad, after posting up 37 points (13 goals, 24 assists) in 65 games.

It is unclear whether or not Allen will play in Friday’s game against the Sarnia Sting.
