Carrie Underwood’s stance on performing at Super Bowl clear – Football – Sports

For now, it remains to be seen who the halftime performer will be for Super Bowl LX as it usually announced closer to the actual event. However, one of her more recent live performances, at Trump’s inauguration, was saddled with technical difficulties which left the star infuriated.

It was reported that Underwood left the inauguration “furious” and an insider told the Daily Mail that the 42-year-old felt snubbed by how she was treated, compared to how previous performers were treated.

“Her anxiety was high throughout the performance, and she felt that she was not afforded the same level of respect or admiration that previous performers, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga,” the insider said. “She felt as if she was ushered in and out and had a mini hissy fit afterwards.”

As one of the judges on ‘American Idol,’ the star elected to remain mum on her performance, especially with the implications any potential comments she might have being drastic for the show. “The show just wants to stay away from anything political so this turning into such a big, worldwide topic of conversation is not what [the producers] wanted heading into the start of the season,” a source told the U.S. Sun.

The situation has become too big and out of anyone’s control now which is a stressful position to be in while trying to promote a family-friendly, politically neutral show.

“While I know people wish the show wasn’t involved, they are proud of how Carrie handled herself in what I’m sure was a stressful moment but this is basically worst-case scenario. In terms of the amount of attention it’s gotten and Idol being brought into the political conversation.”

Fans also criticized Underwood’s reaction to Jamal Roberts winning the latest season of American Idol. Some fans saw her reaction as disrespectful, with one attributing her reaction to potential bias: “Carrie didn’t seem too excited about the winner of America’s Idol! It gives prejudice. I’m so happy Jamal won!!! Bring back my girl Katie!!! #americanidolfinale #AmericanIdol.”
