The Celtics find themselves in group East C for this year’s renamed Emirates NBA Cup.
They’ll compete with the Cavaliers, Bulls, Hawks and Wizards starting Nov. 12. Eight teams will advance into the knockout rounds of the former In-Season Tournament, with the semifinals and championship again held in Las Vegas in mid-December.

Last year, the Celtics went 3-1 in the group stage and (barely) found a way to finish first by way of point differential. They then lost to the Pacers in the quarterfinals before getting their revenge in the playoffs.
Indiana advanced to the IST championship game and fell to the Lakers. Yes, the Lakers did, in fact, hang the banner (it’s true; look it up).
