Dark and Darker Mobile opens global pre-registration with exclusive rewards

  • Dark and Darker Mobile, the upcoming mobile hack-and-slash extraction game, is now open for pre-reg
  • Rewards for pre-registering include an A-rank mercenary and an exclusive costume skin
  • Dark and Darker Mobile is Krafton’s take on the popular IronMace PC title

Dark and Darker Mobile, the upcoming hack-and-slash extraction game from Krafton, is now available for global pre-registration. The announcement was made as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live (expect to see that phrase a lot today) and included the reveal of the pre-registration rewards including an A-rank mercenary and exclusive costume skin.

The announcement also came alongside a cinematic reveal trailer with possibly more of a jokey tone than many Dark and Darker fans might expect. However, if anything, it does showcase the kind of production values that Krafton has put into this upcoming spin-off in an attempt to mark it out from the original.

And, if you didn’t know already, Dark and Darker is a mobile extraction ‘shooter’ with a difference. Instead of special ops or wily survivors, you play dungeon-crawling adventurers trying to gather powerful gear and treasure before escaping the dungeon with their lives and loot intact.

A lighter shade of dark

I’m what we’ll call cautiously optimistic about Dark and Darker Mobile. Having played the original extensively, I do think that the experience may be harmed by the addition of more P2W features like Mercenaries (basically AI allies) and other purchasable boons. The appeal of Dark and Darker is, after all, how hardcore it is.

But in any case, we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays on release. And whether these optional extras really do interrupt the experience.
