Dating Sim Date Everything! Delayed to a Very Appropriate Date Next Year

Publisher Team17 and developer Sassy Chap Games have announced that Date Everything! has been delayed to next year, but I think you’ll like the new release date (if not the delay itself).

Per a press release, Date Everything! will now launch on February 14th. That’s right; what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than to shack up with a sentient vacuum cleaner or the very air you’re breathing?

The game, which was announced in July this year, was originally intended to launch later this month. In the new release date trailer released earlier today, Sassy Chap says that while the game is content complete, some work still needs to be done before Date Everything! is ready for release.

Date Everything! now lands, appropriately enough, on Valentine’s Day.

That work includes “polish[ing] and perfect[ing] the 3D space”, where Sassy Chap says “you’re gonna be spending a lot of time”.

The QA team is also “hard at work testing thousands of variations and squashing bugs”, Sassy Chap says, and there’s still a fair way to go until that’s done.

As such, Sassy Chap says, due to players’ overwhelming support and “benevolent publishers” Team17 (although I’m sure some staff would disagree with that assessment), a delay was put into place in order to “avoid crunch”.

The devs are promising more information as Date Everything! nears completion, so it shouldn’t be too much longer until we hear more about the game.

If you’re not familiar with Date Everything!, well, the clue’s in the name; it’s a dating sim that will allow you to date…well, not quite everything, but a lot of different potential romantic partners themed around inanimate objects and even abstract concepts.

Dateable characters include your bed, your smoke alarm, your vacuum cleaner, and, uh, the concept of an overwhelming sense of existential dread. I can’t say I’ve ever wanted to romance that particular crippling fear, but there we are.

Date Everything! launches across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on February 14th.
