Deion Sanders faced embarrassment on Shedeur’s nightmare draft night – Football – Sports

Deion Sanders was left red-faced after his prediction about his son Shedeur Sanders‘ NFL Draft position fell flat when he dropped out of the first round. Colorado’s head coach had high hopes for two of his top prospects in the first round of the NFL Draft, with Travis Hunter being picked second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However, despite Coach Prime’s assertion that his quarterback son would be among the top five picks, all potential first-round landing spots passed on him. The Tennessee Titans chose Miami quarterback Cam Ward as their first pick. The Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, and Pittsburgh Steelers, all potential options for Shedeur, looked elsewhere.

Adding insult to injury, the Giants traded back into the first round to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart at No. 25.

“He will be a top 5 pick. Where yo son going? Lololol I got time today. Lololol,” Deion said last May in response to a user who criticized his son.

It is speculated that one of the main factors contributing to Shedeur’s plummeting draft stock were negative reports from his team interviews.

One quarterback coach reportedly labeled Sanders as “brash” and “arrogant.” Another assistant coach told NFL Network that he came across as “entitled” following what he described as “the worst formal interview” he’d ever experienced.

Such remarks prompted both Deion and Shedeur to directly address the quarterback’s critics. “I truly don’t have any space for negativity, so it doesn’t play a factor in my life at all,” Shedeur Sanders confidently told NBC News. “I understand the easiest thing in the world to do is to be negative instead of positive. I truly don’t care what people have to say.

“We like to call that stuff out, though,” Coach Prime interjected. “I know who it is, you’re going to make me call him out. You know what team – don’t make me pull behind the curtain and step in that thing… I try my best to keep it on the high road but I don’t know the address!”

Despite the tension of draft night, Shedeur Sanders maintained his optimism surrounded by friends and family, while his father, Deion Sanders, showed signs of frustration as potential teams hesitated.

DON’T MISS…

After not being selected on the first night, Shedeur Sanders remained composed and hopeful, issuing a statement of faith and confidence.

“We all didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything is possible, everything is possible. I don’t feel like this happened for no reason,” he reflected in a Well Off Media video.
