Deion “Prime Time” Sanders is taking a break from Amazon Prime Video, at least for now.
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind for Sanders, as he witnessed his two sons – Shilo and Shedeur – realize their NFL dreams by signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns, respectively.
However, after Shedeur’s unexpected drop in the 2025 Draft, many pointed fingers at the Colorado head coach, accusing him of diminishing his son’s value due to concerns about potential off-field distractions.
Throughout his career, both on the field and as a coach, Sanders’ larger-than-life personality has always made for must-see TV – and it won’t be long before he’s back in the spotlight.
Netflix announced on Wednesday that a three-part documentary focusing on Sanders’ life will be available for streaming in 2026. The docuseries, aptly named “PRIME TIME”, will offer an inside look at his journey from being a football and baseball star to becoming a significant figure in the media world.
“PRIME TIME will provide an in-depth look at one of pro sports’ most electrifying and polarizing figures, exploring his evolution from a two-sport pro phenom to a culture-defining coach and media personality,” read a press release from Netflix.
“For the first time, Sanders opens up about deeply personal aspects of his life, including his relationship with his biological father, surviving an attempted suicide, and near-death health scares.”
Taking to social media, Sanders shared the buzz about his upcoming Netflix feature with a short video: “Guess what? I heard a rumor. I ain’t one for rumors, but I heard a rumor Prime Time is going prime time on Netflix in 2026. Now give me my theme music! It means so much to finally be able to tell my unfiltered story, my TRUTH.”
The football icon also reflected on his identity shift through the years: “I was PRIME TIME, then I dropped the TIME and went by PRIME, and now I’m in the third quarter of my life and they call me COACH PRIME. Y’all knew a part of me each step of the way, but you never knew DEION.
DON’T MISS…
“I’m excited to share that with you all – the highs and lows, the truths and tragedies, and everything in between. They can’t stop or contain what God has purposed.”
Notably, Sanders’ Netflix deal comes as something of a curveball due to his ongoing multiyear stint with Prime Video, which has seen three seasons of “Coach Prime”—a series offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the Colorado football realm.
Whether Colorado and Prime will continue their collaboration into the 2025 season following the third season premiere of “Coach Prime” in January remains unclear.
A formal agreement confirms that the university plans to work alongside SMAC Entertainment, Skydance Sports, and NFL Films for onsite production at CU throughout Sanders’ tenure.
