- Disco Elysium is set to arrive on Android with a new reveal trailer
- Featuring all-new art and mechanics, it brings the critically-acclaimed CRPG to smartphones
- The new release is now available for pre-registration
It’s a red letter day for CRPG fans, as a newly-released trailer revealed our first look at probably the most anticipated story-based game arriving on mobile in recent years; as Disco Elysium is set to hit Android. And it’s doing so in a new and distinctive way that isn’t just a straight port of the original.
For those not aware, Disco Elysium puts you in the shoes of amnesiac detective Harry Du Bois as you attempt to solve a murder in the city of Revachol, specifically the district of Martinaise. You’ll need to quiz suspects and travel the city to unravel a dense web of conspiracies and conflicting narratives.
Be it the erratic antics of the main character you can choose to defy or lean into, or the dense philosophical discussions between Harry and those he speaks to, there’s a reason that Disco Elysium has been considered such a groundbreaking release.
Just call me Joyce
Under ordinary circumstances, I’d be shouting with excitement from the rooftops. Boasting all-new art and gameplay, alongside 360-degree scenes you can explore with your phone camera, Disco Elysium is perhaps coming to mobile in the best possible form.
But plenty of fans have been eager to take the opportunity to once more bring up the high-profile breakup between Zaum and many members of Disco Elysium’s original design team. Add to that the layoffs and legal drama, and it’s a miracle Disco Elysium made it to Android in one piece.
But, be it a new breath of life to Zaum or the final cut (hah) that they make, I think that this highly-anticipated mobile port will rightly grab the attention of fans who have been hungrily awaiting a CRPG of its calibre when it comes to writing and content.
Disco Elysium is now in pre-registration on Android.
