Scott Borek confirmed after Friday’s 7-1 loss to Boston University that Merrimack senior defenseman Christian Felton will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a broken scapula bone last Saturday night against New Hampshire.
The scapula bone is more commonly known as the shoulder blade. Felton leads Merrimack in ice time (21:54 per game). The timetable for recovery is usually several weeks.
Felton has a fifth year of eligibility available to him because he participated in the COVID season (2020-21) as a member of the Bentley Falcons.
Zach Bookman and Trevor Griebel were also out for the Warriors against BU. Merrimack only dressed five defensemen in the game. Mike Brown has been out all season after his surgery and will miss the rest of the season.
Borek said he’s hopeful those players will be back, he’s just not sure when that will be.
“We have to find a way to patch up in the back end,” he said.
