Former IU forward Race Thompson has agreed to join Legia Warsaw in Poland next season, the team announced on Monday.
The 26-year-old Thompson spent last season in the NBA G-League with the Memphis Hustle.
In 28 games with the Hustle, including two starts, Thompson averaged 6.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 16.8 minutes per game.
Thompson shot 39.6 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from the field.
Legia Warsaw competes in the Polish Basketball League (PLK), the first division in Poland. Legia Warsaw has won eight championships in Poland in its history, which dates back to 1929.
Thompson’s stint with Legia Warsaw will be his first European basketball experience.
Over six seasons at Indiana, Thompson averaged 7.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, one assist, .9 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. He shot 51.1 percent from the floor and 64.6 percent from the free throw line.
In his final two seasons at Indiana, Thompson helped lead the Hoosiers to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances.
The 2024-25 season with the Hustle was Thompson’s first professional basketball experience after he suffered a right tibia plateau fracture in the summer of 2023 and was forced to miss the NBA Summer League.
